Job summary

ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc in the United States is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to provide technical leadership for design and implementation of complex industrial automation solutions across PLCs, DCS, SCADA, BMS, Edge, MES and robotics. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to define scope, develop specifications, lead testing and qualification, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Travel to customer sites will be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience deploying industrial automation solutions (hardware and software).
  • Experience with the design and deployment of industrial network infrastructure and IIoT solutions.
  • Technical knowledge and practical experience with industrial platform solutions from Rockwell, Aveva or Siemens, formal certification required.
  • Familiar with agile software development methodologies (processes and standards).
  • Knowledgeable in relational databases and programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Functional Block Diagram, Structured Text, Python, C#/C++, MS SQL, etc.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication and leadership skills, fluent in English, spoken and written.
  • Experience with the regulated industry requirements preferred.
  • Willing to travel to manufacturing/customer sites when required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform site surveys and lead requirements definition.
  • Define project scope and prepare estimates.
  • Design, develop, and implement process, utility and building control systems in support of manufacturing operations.
  • Lead and mentor a project team for the development of functional specifications and detailed design specifications for hardware and software system solutions.
  • Develop the required project plan, test plan, test scripts, test protocols, and test reports.
  • Build and qualify software development and production system environments.
  • Coordinate and review the technical design and configuration activities, ensure adherence to project procedures and standards.
  • Lead the installation and start-up of systems or applications, remotely or at the customer site.
  • Lead testing and qualification activities in respect with the industry rules and regulations, ensure proper documentation and resolution of test discrepancies and technical issues.
  • Ensure that design changes are logged, documented, and estimated.
  • Report to the Project Manager on project progress and issues.
  • Provide post implementation support and training to clients.

Job Description

The focus for this position is to provide technical leadership for the design and implementation of complex industrial automation solutions using different technologies and platforms (PLCs, DCS, SCADA, BMS, Edge Devices, MES, Data Management, Vision Systems, Robotics, etc.) for some of the leading companies in the life sciences and other manufacturing industries.

As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will apply your diverse knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related fields, making decisions regarding engineering complexities and methods. This role operates within a multidisciplinary team that integrates technology and business expertise to deliver professional solutions.

Responsibilities:

Additional Information
  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering. Other training and relevant professional experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with the deployment of industrial automation solutions (hardware and software) and practical experience with activities such as design specifications, software development, acceptance testing, commissioning, and qualification.
  • Experience with the design and deployment of industrial network infrastructure and IIoT solutions.

  • Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor
  • Assist in investigating accidents/incidents
  • Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running, or rough and boisterous conduct
