Job summary

Haemonetics is seeking a Senior Automation Applications Engineer to lead the development and implementation of custom automated manufacturing equipment across its global network. You will drive automation requirements, oversee design and qualification, and lead cross-functional reviews to meet quality and operational goals.

The role requires 8+ years in industrial automation engineering, a bachelor's in engineering, and preference for a Master’s. Travel up to 25% may be required across sites.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in industrial automation engineering.
  • Experience leading automation projects across manufacturing networks.
  • Familiarity with FDA, ISO, GMP requirements and validation processes.

Job description

Pay Transparency:

The pay range for this role is:


  • $78,400.00-$133,400.00/Annual

The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account, without limitation, the candidate's location, education, job-knowledge, skills, and experience in prior relevant roles.


Incentives may also be provided as part of Haemonetics' employee compensation. For sales roles , employees will be eligible for sales incentive (i.e., commission) under the applicable plan terms. For non-sales roles , employees will be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, the target amount of which varies based on the applicable role, to be governed by the applicable plan terms. Employees may also be eligible to participate in the Company's long-term incentive plan, with eligibility and target amount dependent on the role.


In addition to compensation, the Company offers a competitive suite of benefits to its employees, including without limitation, a 401(k) with up to a 6% employer match and no vesting period, an employee stock purchase plan, \"flexible time off\" for salaried employees and, for hourly employees, accrual of three to five weeks' vacation annually (based on tenure), accrual of up to 64 hours (annually) of paid sick time, paid and/or floating holidays, parental leave, short- and long-term disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, and/or health and welfare benefits.

Job Details

Position Summary :

The Senior Automation Applications Engineer is responsible for leading the development and implementation of custom automated manufacturing equipment across the Haemonetics global manufacturing network.


The successful candidate will develop automation requirements and equipment specifications, provide technical oversight throughout machine design and implementation, and lead design reviews to ensure solutions meet business, quality, and operational objectives. Projects may support multiple global manufacturing locations and require travel of up to 25%.


Primary Responsibilities :


  • Automation Strategy and Project Leadership

  • Serve as a lead automation engineering representative for capital automation projects across the Haemonetics manufacturing network.

  • Lead automation initiatives from concept development through equipment qualification and handoff to operations.

  • Identify automation opportunities that improve safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.

  • Requirements Development and Equipment Specifications

  • Develop automation requirements, including URS (user requirement specifications) , FRS (functional requirement specifications) , technical specifications, performance criteria, and equipment acceptance requirements in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Support the development and standardization of automation templates, equipment specifications, and project execution practices.

  • Automation Integrator and Vendor Management

  • Serve as a primary technical point of contact between Haemonetics and external automation partners.

  • Review automation integrator deliverables, including mechanical designs, electrical designs, controls architecture, HMI concepts, software functional specifications, and safety system designs.

  • Provide engineering oversight throughout design, fabrication, assembly, testing, installation, and startup.

  • Design Reviews and Technical Governance

  • Lead design reviews throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring manufacturability, maintainability, serviceability, and scalability requirements are incorporated into equipment designs.

  • Equipment Implementation and Startup

  • Lead FAT (factory acceptance testing) , SAT (site acceptance testing) , commissioning, and startup activities to ensure equipment meets defined requirements and performance objectives.

  • Support installation, integration, startup, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of automated manufacturing systems.

  • Validation and Compliance

  • Partner with Quality and Validation teams to support equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) and ensure compliance with FDA, ISO, GMP, and internal quality requirements.

  • Ensure project documentation supports validation, regulatory, and audit requirements.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation, or related degree preferred.

  • Master's degree in Engineering or Business preferred.

  • 8+ years of experience in industrial automation engineering preferred.
