Job summary

NVIDIA is seeking a Sr. Software Automation and Tools Development Engineer to join the GPU SWQA team in Santa Clara, CA. You will design AI-enabled automated tests for device driver software and SDKs on Windows and Linux, build Python-based tools, and drive test automation across a broad matrix.

The role emphasizes strong OS, PC hardware, and I/O knowledge, plus collaboration in a fast-paced, onsite environment with equity and benefits offerings.

Qualifications

  • Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electronics & telecom or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 4+ years programming in Python with OOP concepts.
  • Experience with databases (SQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch) and storage tech.
  • Strong OS fundamentals on Linux/Unix/Windows and PC hardware tuning.
  • Experience applying AI tools to automate test cases and QA workflows.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement automated tests using AI for NVIDIA device driver software and SDKs on Windows and Linux.
  • Build tools and frameworks in Python to automate and optimize GPU testing workflows.
  • Develop automated and manual tests, analyze results, and report defects to closure.
  • Measure and improve code coverage; drive coverage enhancements.
  • Create tools to accelerate development and testing across a test matrix.
  • Provide peer code reviews focusing on performance, scalability, and correctness.
  • Estimate and prioritize tasks to create realistic delivery schedules.

Job description

We are seeking a qualified Sr. Software Automation and Tools Development Engineer to join our GPU SWQA team. The successful candidate will demonstrate substantial experience with AI technologies for automation of test cases, as well as an in-depth understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems. Comprehensive knowledge of system architecture is essential, along with a strong command of PC I/O architecture and common bus interfaces, including PCI-E, USB, and SATA. Familiarity with specifications pertaining to general PC-Architecture components will be regarded as a valuable asset.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Design and implement automated tests incorporating AI technologies for NVIDIA's device driver software and SDKs on Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Build tools, utilities, and frameworks in Python or equivalent to automate and optimize testing workflows in the GPU domain, and rigorously drive test automation initiatives through innovative approaches to expand software testing.
  • Develop and implement automated and manual tests, analyze results, identify and report defects; expose defects and constraints, isolate and debug issues, determine root cause, and contribute to solutions, driving them to closure.
  • Measure code coverage for the software under test, analyze results, and drive code coverage enhancements.
  • Develop applications and tools that accelerate development and test workflows, writing fast, effective, maintainable, reliable, and well-documented code; generate and test compatibility across a range of products and interfaces, validating key software applications across a test matrix designed for both breadth and depth.
  • Provide peer code reviews, including feedback on performance, scalability, and correctness.
  • Effectively estimate and prioritize tasks to create realistic delivery schedules.
  • Work on challenging technical and process issues, collaborating closely with leadership to report progress and generate effective, actionable reports; this is a fully onsite position.
What we need to see:
  • B.S / B.Tech/M.S in Computer Science/Computer Engineering / Electronics & Telecommunication with strong academics or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of programming experience in Python or equivalent with experience in applying Object-Oriented Programming concepts
  • Working experience with databases and storage technologies like SQL, MongoDB and Elasticsearch.
  • Good understanding of OS fundamentals, PC Hardware fine-tuning in those areas (Linux, Unix, Windows)
  • Experience using AI tools to automate test cases as well as end-to-end QA workflow.
  • Good Communication skills (interpersonal and across teams).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Very organized, proactive, and has good learning ability.
  • The ability to work with a team of engineers in a fast-paced environment
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
  • Good problem-solving skills (solid logic to apply in isolation and regression of issues found) and good written communications skills
  • Substantial experience with AI-driven automation
  • Ability to work in a distributed team environment
  • Development experience capable of fixing regression bugs , implementing/enabling test for CI/CD

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 140,000 USD - 224,250 USD for Level 3, and 168,000 USD - 270,250 USD for Level 4.

  • You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
