Job summary

Greece Central School District in Rochester, NY, is seeking a Senior Automotive Mechanic for the Student Transportation Services team. You will perform heavy equipment and bus repairs, diagnose diesel and hydraulic system issues, and ensure safety inspections meet state standards.

This Union position operates under the Teamsters contract, with a schedule of 9:30am–6:00pm, 52-week work year, and a $25.00/hour minimum.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with automotive training.
• An associate degree or certificate in automotive field preferred.
• Progressive experience in automotive/heavy equipment repairs.
• Valid CDL-B with PS Endorsement by end of probation.

Responsibilities

• Performs heavy equipment and automotive repairs to gasoline, diesel engines, and hydraulic systems.
• Repairs and rebuilds all automotive systems including cooling, electrical, exhaust, steering, suspension, fuel, brakes, and drive train.
• Conducts preventative maintenance and safety inspections on trucks and buses.
• Operates machine shop equipment to make, rebuild or repair parts.
• Diagnoses chronic automotive problems from maladjustments or worn parts.
• Performs NY State vehicle inspections and may drive a school bus with children.
