Job summary

Leidos in Ashburn, VA seeks a Postgres SQL Database Administrator to design, build, deliver, and support highly available, real-time data persistence for the PSPD within CBP. You will work with cloud, software, and Agile teams to meet mission objectives and drive scalable data solutions across the SDLC.

This on-site role requires a strong DBA background with Aurora PostgreSQL tuning, Oracle experience, and 24x7 operations.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree and 12+ years of DBA experience, or Master's with 10+ years.
• 4+ years tuning Aurora PostgreSQL and PL/pgSQL scripts.
• 4+ years AWS Aurora PostgreSQL DBA in a 24x7 environment with 70TB+ databases.
• At least 4+ years as an Oracle DBA in a 24x7 environment with 200TB+ databases.
• Proficiency in tuning Oracle DBs and troubleshooting performance issues.
• Able to support on-call schedule and incident resolution.
• MS Office products proficiency (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain CBP background check.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analyses.
• Monitors database health, optimizes SQL code, and addresses performance bottlenecks.
• Designs and implements database schemas and structures per project requirements.
• Develops and maintains documentation for database environments and standards.
• Implements security measures, sets user permissions, ensures data protection policy compliance.
• Plans storage requirements and scales infrastructure as needed.
• Maintains data accuracy and maximum uptime; may require on-call support.
• Collaborates with developers to optimize queries, stored procedures, and design.
• Must be a self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
