Job summary

Associated Electric Cooperative (AECI) is seeking a Senior Auditor to independently lead financial, operational, compliance, and contractual audits across our cooperative network in MO/AR/OK. You will partner with leaders to assess risk, strengthen controls, and deliver actionable recommendations that safeguard assets and improve governance.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, 5–12 years of audit experience including leading audits, and CPA or CIA certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• 5–12 years of related audit experience, including experience independently leading audits of varying complexity.
• Professional certification such as CPA or CIA.
• Working knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, IPPF, COSO Framework, and relevant compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead risk-based audits of varying complexity from planning to reporting and follow-up.
• Evaluate internal controls, processes, compliance, and operational risks to identify improvements.
• Prepare audit findings and present recommendations to management, executives, and the Board.
• Build relationships across AECI, member G&T cooperatives, consultants, and external auditors.
• Provide guidance on accounting and audit matters while supporting risk assessments.
• Mentor junior auditors and contribute to a collaborative Audit Services team.
