Job summary

Harford County Government in Bel Air, MD is seeking a full‑performance professional auditor to perform difficult accounting and auditing work under general supervision, preparing financial reports and maintaining liaison with data processing personnel.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or a related field and three years of professional accounting or auditing experience, plus a valid driver's license and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, public administration or related field.
• Three (3) years of professional accounting or auditing experience.
• Possession of a valid Class 'C' non-commercial driver's license with no more than three points.
• Audit-related certifications such as CIA, CPA, CISA or CFE.

Responsibilities

• Performs audit tests and identifies material exceptions to GAAP and noncompliance with laws and procedures.
• Reviews financial and operational transactions, documents and reports for accuracy.
• Evaluates internal controls and documents audit findings with work papers.
• Recommends corrective actions and participates in post audits to verify improvements.
• May assist with audit methods planning and auditing of automated data processing systems.
