Job summary

UN Secretariat in New York seeks an Auditor to lead and execute audits and special reviews of complex operations within OIOS. You will plan, supervise junior staff, test controls, and draft reports for senior management and the General Assembly.

You will monitor implementation of recommendations and use data analysis/visualization to support decision-making. Fluency in English required; Arabic, Spanish, Russian, French, Chinese desired.

Qualifications

• Advanced university degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field; substitution with a first-level degree plus two years' experience.
• Data analytics or data science programs are advantageous.
• Seven years of progressive professional experience in audit, finance or accounting.
• Experience in data analysis to identify trends and using data analytics tools (IDEA, ACL, Excel).
• Public sector auditing experience is desirable.
• Knowledge of auditing standards, financial rules, and ability to present recommendations.
• Experience with IT audit applications (IDEA, ACL, TeamMate) is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute audits and special reviews for complex operations.
• Prepare risk-based audits and plans according to OIOS standards.
• Supervise and coach audit staff, ensuring adherence to standards.
• Evaluate and test systems and controls for compliance, effectiveness, and efficiency.
• Prepare working papers and draft audit reports for distribution.
• Discuss findings, agree on recommendations, and monitor follow-up.
• Prepare presentations on audit results for senior management.
• Maintain and update audit programs and develop training materials.
• Conduct data analysis and use visualization methods to support decision-making.
