Job summary

County of San Mateo seeks a Senior Auditor-Appraiser to conduct site visits, audit books and records, and perform complex property appraisals for tax assessment. The role includes leading teams on major audits and presenting findings to the Assessment Appeals Board.

The ideal candidate will have two+ years as Auditor II, a relevant four-year degree, and pursuit of Advanced Appraisal Certification. This is a position within the Assessor's Office in San Mateo County.

Qualifications

• Two+ years as Auditor II performing full-range audits and appraisals of tangible and taxable property.
• Bachelor's degree with upper division coursework in accounting, auditing or cost estimating.
• Certification: Property Tax Appraiser certificate within one year of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Make site visits to audit books, records, and financial reports and to appraise for tax assessment.
• Provide direction to Auditor-Appraiser I/II staff including assigning, directing, and reviewing their work.
• Perform the most difficult audits and appraisals for large, complex properties.
