New York City School Construction Authority invites applications for the position of Senior Attorney (Real Estate). Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York State Bar and good standing.
• Four years of legal experience after admission to the Bar.
• Land Use and/or Real Estate experience strongly preferred, including knowledge of environmental law, construction codes, statutes, and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate, draft, and review contracts, Letters of Intent, Memoranda of Understanding, Contracts of Sale, Licenses, Leases, and SNDAs.
• Draft assignment and assumption agreements between the NYC Department of Education and the Authority.
• Negotiate, draft, and review easements, zoning lot development agreements (ZLDAs), zoning declarations, zoning exhibits, condominium documents, and other real estate-related documents.
• Advise Authority staff on real property transactions.
• Research complex legal issues and provide legal analysis and recommendations.
• Provide legal support to divisions concerning leasing, purchasing real estate and constructing/rehabilitating schools.
• Review and interpret applicable construction codes, statutes, regulations, and other legal requirements.

Education

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

NEW YORK CITY SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION AUTHORITY

Invites applications for the position of Senior Attorney (Real Estate).

The Legal Department is seeking an experienced and motivated attorney to join our team as a Senior Attorney (Real Estate). The Senior Attorney reports to the Deputy General Counsel and is responsible for providing legal advice and recommendations regarding legal actions, strategies, and issues facing the various divisions of the Authority. The Senior Attorney will be responsible for negotiating, drafting, and reviewing various legal documents related to acquiring real property and constructing schools. The Senior Attorney will coordinate with Real Estate Services staff, Construction Management, and other departments within the Authority with respect to the leasing, acquisition, construction, and rehabilitation of public schools.

Senior Attorney (Real Estate) Responsibilities Include:

• Negotiate, draft, and review contracts, Letters of Intent, Memoranda of Understanding,

Minimum Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York State Bar and good standing.
• Four years of legal experience after admission to the Bar.
• Land Use and/or Real Estate experience strongly preferred, including experience with real estate transactions and knowledge of applicable environmental law, construction codes, statutes, and regulations.

Salary Range: $91,193 - $140,000, commensurate with experience.
