Job summary

Philander Smith University seeks an experienced Director of University Athletics to provide strategic leadership for the intercollegiate program. The role reports to the President's office and oversees coaches, staff, budgets, compliance, and student-athlete development.

The Director will align athletics with the university's mission, support academic achievement, integrity, and competitive excellence while managing facilities, travel, and external relations.

Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited institution in Sports Administration, Athletic Administration, Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, or a related field.
• Progressively responsible experience in intercollegiate athletics administration and supervision of coaches or personnel.
• Knowledge of athletic compliance and student-athlete eligibility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for the University's intercollegiate athletics program.
• Supervise, develop, and evaluate coaches and Athletics personnel and establish clear standards.
• Oversee athletics budget, travel, equipment, and operations.
• Ensure compliance with NAIA, conference, and university requirements.
• Collaborate with Institutional Advancement on fundraising and external engagements.
