Job summary

Aspiriant, a leading, independent, 100% employee-owned wealth management firm, seeks a Wealth Management Senior Associate to support Wealth Management Managers and Directors in our Exclusive Family Office with services such as net worth statements, cash flows, long-range financial projections, income tax projections and related evaluations.

The role collaborates across Tax Services, Accounting and Banking Services, and Investment Advisory Services; from time to time you may have direct client

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience supporting wealth management clients or in tax and accounting, with client-facing communication experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required. CPA desirable. CFP is preferred or demonstrated progress toward acquiring the CFP.
  • Strong understanding of personal financial planning concepts including retirement planning, benefits, insurance, and investment vehicles

Responsibilities

  • Participate in internal strategy discussions for clients
  • Coordinate and integrate projects and assessments by various groups
  • Review financials and income tax projections/tax returns
  • Gather tax information for preparation of client’s tax returns
  • Prepare net worth, cash flow, investment planning, and insurance summaries for wealth planning engagements
  • Prepare long-term capital sufficiency analyses based on client goals and data
  • Communicate with clients to request information and follow up
  • Attend client meetings with senior advisors and assist with meeting preparation

As a member of a client service team, the Wealth Management Senior Associate is responsible for helping the Wealth Management Managers and Directors in our Exclusive Family Office with the services provided to clients such as the preparation of net worth statements, cash flows, long-range financial projections, income tax projections and various evaluations. The associate will assist with the integration and coordination of the work done on behalf of clients by the various groups including Tax Services, Accounting and Banking Services, and Investment Advisory Services. The Senior Associate is expected, from time to time, to have direct contact with clients, vendors, and other advisors as necessary as part of the client service team.

How You Will Contribute

  • Participate in internal strategy discussions for clients
  • Assist with the coordination and integration of projects and assessments done by the various groups
  • Review financials and income tax projections/tax returns prepared by the Tax Services Group
  • Gather tax information for preparation of client’s tax returns by the Tax Services Group
  • Gather and compile client’s financial information to prepare net worth, cash flow, investment planning, insurance summaries and other tools for use in wealth planning engagements
  • Prepare long-term capital sufficiency analyses based on client’s personal financial goals, current financial data, and investment assumptions
  • Communicate with clients to request information, clarify data, and follow up on outstanding items in a timely and professional manner
  • Attend client meetings (virtual and in-person) alongside senior advisors; assist with meeting preparation, note-taking, and follow-up items

Knowledge

  • Basic understanding of comprehensive personal financial planning such as retirement planning, employee benefits, insurance, investment vehicles, asset allocation, estate planning techniques, income taxation, and executive compensation
  • Understanding of individual/entity income tax rules and ability to analyze individual/entity income tax returns
  • Basic understanding of financial statements; including balance sheets, profit loss and cash flow

Skills

  • Experience preparing and/or reviewing tax returns of UHNW individuals (personal, trust, privately held companies, family limited partnerships and foundations)
  • Clearly and confidently presents financial planning materials and concepts to clients, and is able to thoughtfully address most ad hoc questions related to their situations

Abilities

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage and track multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple directors and cross-functional team members to coordinate client projects and deliverables
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly and professionally communicate with internal team members and clients
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, proactively communicate status and next steps, and follow through to completion
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word required. Experience with eMoney is highly desirable
  • Takes ownership of all aspects of the client engagement (anticipation of issues, strategy development, meeting prep, follow-up, execution).
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and takes a proactive, self-motivated approach to learning various financial planning concepts, including complex tax and estate planning strategies.

Experience And Education

We will consider any combination of experience and education which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job. A typical way to acquire the requirements would:

  • 2–4 years of experience supporting wealth management clients or in tax and accounting, with client-facing communication experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Prefer accounting, finance, law, and/or significant experience in a related field. CPA is highly desirable.
  • CFP® preferred or demonstrated progress toward acquiring the CFP®, i.e., ongoing plan for completion of required coursework and taking the CFP® exam

Physical Demands And Work Environment

Primarily sedentary work in an office with minimal distractions; walking throughout the office. Learn and memorize tasks; execute tasks independently; apply knowledge and use judgment to handle situations. Occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Perform repetitive motions; substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and fingers for computer keyboard operation. Use near visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing documents, operating a computer, and reading. Speak and hear to communicate with team members and clients by phone and in-person.
