Job summary

West Houston Veterinary Medical Associates is seeking an experienced Senior Associate Veterinarian to join our established small animal practice in West Houston, Texas. This role combines high-quality clinical medicine with mentorship and clinical leadership in a collaborative hospital environment.

The senior veterinarian will mentor associates, uphold medical standards, and work with Practice Manager and Regional Operations Manager to support hospital growth, culture, and patient care

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree.
• Current Texas veterinary license or eligibility for Texas licensure.
• Several years of experience practicing small animal medicine.
• Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
• Experience or interest in general surgery and dentistry.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• Collaborative, team-oriented approach.
• Mentoring and developing other veterinarians.
• Commitment to high standards of patient care and medical excellence.
• Interest in contributing to hospital culture, medical protocols, and practice development.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Desire to grow into greater clinical leadership and responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional, compassionate medical care to small animal patients.
• Perform comprehensive wellness examinations, diagnostics, treatment, surgery, and dentistry as appropriate to your clinical interests and experience.
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for associate veterinarians and veterinary support staff.
• Encourage evidence-based medicine and help promote consistent, high-quality medical standards throughout the hospital.
• Collaborate with other veterinarians on complex cases, treatment plans, diagnostics, and patient management.
• Help establish, implement, and uphold medical protocols and best practices.
• Support a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and clinical excellence.
• Promote excellent client communication and education to strengthen long-term relationships with pet families.
