Job Title: Senior Associate Scientist - Molecular Biology

Location: Cambridge, MA

About the Job

Are you ready to shape the future of medicine? The race is on to speed up drug discovery and development to find answers for patients and their families. Your skills could be critical in helping our teams accelerate progress.

The person in this position will work as part of the Molecular, Expression and Screening Technologies (MEST) Group within Sanofi’s rapidly expanding North America R&D Large Molecule Research organization. The individual will be part of a group that has the responsibility to generate, store and distribute DNA plasmids for a wide range of down-stream activities.

We are an innovative global healthcare company with one purpose: to chase the miracles of science to improve people’s lives. We’re also a company where you can flourish and grow your career, with countless opportunities to explore, make connections with people, and stretch the limits of what you thought was possible. Ready to get started?

Main Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate must have strong molecular biology skills. The position is part of the core molecular biology team that provides recombinant DNA plasmids needed for antibody discovery, antibody engineering, protein production and cell line generation. This person will also be responsible for tracking all DNA constructs generated in our global sample databases (Genedata Biologics, CloneDB) and our global freezer tracking system (MOSAIC).

  • In addition to producing plasmids requested de novo, this person will also assist with the plasmid and data management activities within the group. We are a global repository for the majority of DNA constructs generated over time and have implemented a global system for requesting these stored plasmids. Responsibilities will include retrieval of stored DNA plasmid, handling all outsourcing of DNA upscaling at a CRO, QC of newly generated DNA batches and subsequent delivery to requestors. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for processing new batches of DNA along with meta data entry into the Global Repository and freezer tracking system. The candidate will also support the High-throughput Molecular Biology team by generating DNA plasmids at a large scale as needed.

  • This person must have strong molecular biology skills with the ability to understand and execute complex cloning strategies. The scientist in this position must have the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems in which initiative and judgment are required; the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail; the ability to organize and present data, the ability to work in a collaborative team environment and to communicate effectively both within the immediate group and across groups.
