Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Associate, IT Security to join the Security Operations Team in Melbourne, FL. The role supports 24/7/365 security operations for federal government customers, requiring weekend and after-hours coverage and on-call rotations.

The successful candidate will monitor and analyze security events, coordinate with stakeholders, and maintain incident documentation while ensuring tool updates and compliance with program requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree required or equivalent experience across the stated tracks.
• Graduate degree or equivalent with 0–2 years of related experience; in lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security systems for signs of irregular activity and escalate findings according to established protocols
• Analyze network traffic and activity, perform packet captures, interpret data, and communicate findings to stakeholders, escalating as needed
• Document all detected incidents accurately in the incident management system per reporting protocols
• Collaborate with security teams, customers, and program managers to maintain systems, coordinate with technicians, troubleshoot issues, and test configurations
• Provide Tier 1 help desk and first point of contact for internal and external users facing technical issues
• Ensure security tools are current, including updates and signature management
• Ability to obtain FAA Public Trust Suitability

Job Description:

L3Harris is searching for a talented IT Security professional to join the L3Harris Security Operations Team supporting managed network infrastructures for federal government customers. The successful candidate will operate within our 24/7/365 Security Operations Control Center (SOCC).

• This is an ON-SITE position at L3Harris offices located in Melbourne, Florida
• This position requires weekend, after-hours support, and on-call rotations to meet program requirements
• This position requires travel to a disaster recovery site to support if needed in an emergency

Essential Functions:

• Monitor security systems for signs of irregular activity, analyze potential security incidents, and **escalate** findings according to established protocols
• Analyze network traffic and activity, perform packet captures, interpret data, and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders, **escalating** as per established protocols
• Document all detected incidents accurately and comprehensively in the incident management system for further investigation as per customer defined reporting protocols
• Collaborate with security teams, customers, and program managers to facilitate system maintenance, including coordination with technicians, troubleshooting issues, and testing configurations for system integrity
• Demonstrates proficient written and verbal communication, self-driven initiative, keen interest in learning, and strong collaborative skills within a team setting
• Provide Tier 1 help desk and customer support, serving as the first point of contact for internal and external users facing technical issues
• Ensures security tools are current, including updates and signature management
• Ability to obtain FAA Public Trust Suitability

Qualifications:

• Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Experience using the Command Line Interface (CLI) for Cisco routers and switches
• Adaptable to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
• Experience using Linux and Windows Operating Systems (OS) Command Line tools
• Experienced in collecting and analyzing system logs and event data, with a focus on root cause analysis using device logs or SIEM tools to document findings
• Familiarity with network security and identity management services and technologies, including but not limited to firewalls, IDS, WAF, ISE, RSA, and various VPN technologies
• Prior federal telecommunications and network security experience is a plus
• Security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, ISC2 CC, CEH)
• Other relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco CyberOps, CND, GIAC, CySA+, Pentest+, etc.)
