Job summary

Ares Management Corporation is seeking a Senior Associate for the US Public Credit accounting team. You will handle day‑to‑day accounting for private fund portfolio companies and oversee NAV packages, working with fund administrators and auditors.

The role requires 4–6 years of related experience, a strong grasp of US GAAP, and proficiency in Excel and BI tools. A CPA credential is a plus, with opportunities for growth in a high‑growth environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • CPA or equivalent certification is a plus and preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation of US GAAP financial statements for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Prepare quarterly GAAP consolidated statements for an SEC-registered advisor and related entities.
  • Oversee NAV packages and coordinate with fund administrators and auditors.
  • Support quarterly SEC filings and Form PF/ADV compliance.
  • Manage daily cash, invoicing, and general ledger postings; assist with close processes.
  • Prepare waterfall calculations and review distribution reports.

The Senior Associate will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and oversight of several private fund portfolio companies of several public investment companies regulated by the investment company act of 1940. These private fund portfolio companies include an SEC-registered investment advisor and several joint ventures of the regulated companies.Primary functions and essential responsibilitiesAssist with preparation of US GAAP financial statements for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting deadlines for the various funds.Prepare quarterly GAAP consolidated financial statements for an SEC-registered investment advisor, a controlled portfolio company of the Business Development Company (“BDC”).Provide the regulated companies and management company with data for quarterly SEC filings.Oversee and review daily and monthly NAV packages from the fund administrator.Assist in managing relationships and liaising with internal resources, fund administers and auditors to meet all daily, monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines.High level of interaction across the organization, including communications with portfolio managers, investor relations, operations, tax and financial reporting.Assist with monthly/quarterly close process and preparation of various financial statement account balance reconciliations and workpapers.Review reporting to investors and internal constituents (portfolio managers, investor relations)Work closely with operations and other groups in managing daily cash and position breaksManage daily cash activities for several private funds, including processing of payments, approving and coding invoices and posting to the general ledger.Prepare quarterly waterfall calculations and review monthly distribution reports from the trustee.Provide compliance reporting (Form PF, ADV, etc.)Participate and contribute to regular review of processes and deliverables to improve effectiveness, efficiency and accuracy.Various ad-hoc/special projects.QualificationsEducation:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldCertification:CPA or relevant certification is a plusExperience Required:4-6 years of relevant professional experience (preferred)Public Accounting experience, Big 4 (preferred)Industry experience, specifically with credit related investmentsExperience with Advent Geneva, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central AND Onestream software a plusGeneral Requirements:Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high growth environment.Highly motivated team player with a strong work ethicStrong knowledge of accounting principles, financial instruments, and regulatory requirementsStrong understanding of U.S. GAAP.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Strong verbal and written skills; ability to analyze and summarize complex information both verbally and in writingAbility to multi-task and manage various deadlinesAdvent Geneva experience a plusStrong Excel skills (e.g. complex formulas, macros)Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau or other business intelligence tools a plusReporting RelationshipsControllerCompensationThe anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus.
