Job summary

BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. in San Rafael, CA, seeks an Associate Director, Corporate Counsel, Product and Commercial to advise on advertising, promotion, and external communications for BioMarin's portfolio.

You will serve as a liaison across Marketing, Sales, Market Access, and Medical Affairs to ensure compliant and effective messaging. The role requires a JD and active bar license, 3–7 years in pharma/legal/compliance, and proven experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements,

Qualifications

• JD degree and active bar license in the United States.
• 3–7 years in pharma/legal/compliance.
• Experience with AdPromo framework and MLR reviewer.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Knowledge of OIG, FDA, and anti-kickback statutes.
• Strong written, oral, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work with all levels of management.

Responsibilities

• Counsel internal stakeholders on advertising, promotion, and external communications.
• Serve as Legal reviewer across MLR committees for assigned products.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts to support BioMarin.
• Provide guidance to Marketing, Sales, Market Access, and Medical Affairs.
• Advise on risk mitigation regarding healthcare rules and regulations.
• Work with Global Compliance & Ethics on policy and training.
• Prepare briefing documents for Executive Management on industry trends.
