Job summary

Secretariat Advisors LLC is seeking candidates for a Denver-based role in its Business Damages and Valuation team. You will engage in economic damages work, forensic accounting, and complex quantification matters that merge finance, accounting, economics, and law.

The role involves researching, analyzing data, preparing expert and rebuttal reports, and liaising with clients and counsel. A Bachelor's in accounting/finance/economics and 2–4 years of relevant experience are expected, with Big Four

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics from an accredited university.
  • 2-4 years of experience in economic damages and/or forensic accounting.
  • Big Four experience is preferred.
  • Pursuing or holding CPA, CFF, CFA, CFE, ABV credentials is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, deadline-driven, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Second language proficiency is a plus.

  • Conduct economic, financial, accounting, and industry research.
  • Analyze financial and non-financial information and summarize findings for the team and clients.
  • Assist with preparing expert reports (damages, forensic accounting, construction quantum).
  • Assist with rebuttal expert reports evaluating other experts' conclusions.
  • Communicate with clients and counsel.
  • Prepare for and attend hearings, trials, and mediations.
  • Manage day-to-day requirements of multiple engagements.
  • Review work of junior staff.

ABOUT OUR BUSINESS DAMAGES AND VALUATION TEAM

Successful candidates will join an expanding domestic and international business valuation and damages quantification practice. Our Denver-based group works on large and complex commercial damages matters involving misappropriations of assets, post-acquisition disputes, forensic accounting investigations, and a myriad of other domestic and international disputes. These cases will give successful candidates exposure to unique, complex, interesting issues, often integrating finance, accounting, economics, and legal principles.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct economic, financial, accounting, and industry research
  • Analyze financial and non-financial information, and summarize and report findings to team members and to clients
  • Assist with the preparation of expert reports (damages, forensic accounting, and construction quantum reports)
  • Assist with the preparation of rebuttal expert reports evaluating the conclusions of other experts
  • Communicate with clients and counsel
  • Prepare for and attend hearings, trials and mediations
  • Manage the day-to-day requirements of multiple engagements
  • Review work of junior level staff
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Requisite professional designations and work experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or similar, from an accredited university or college
  • 2-4 years of prior experience in economic damages and/or forensic accounting preferred
  • Prior experience at one of the 'Big Four' accounting firms would be an asset
  • Holder of or pursuing CPA, CFF, CFA, CFE, or ABV credentials is a plus
  • Able to develop creative approaches and solutions necessary to resolve complex problems
  • Able to quickly assimilate relevant information in unfamiliar situations
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial records and capital market data
  • Excellent listening, verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Working proficiency in a second non-English language is a plus
  • The ability to travel as needed
