Job summary

Baker Tilly in San Francisco is seeking a Family Office Accounting Senior Associate to join our fast-growing practice. You will handle full accounting processes, including GL, journal entries, monthly close, financial statements, and intercompany reconciliations for ultra-high net worth clients.

Successful candidates will have a Bachelor's degree, CPA eligibility preferred, and at least 3 years of progressive accounting and professional services experience.

  • Strong Excel and QuickBooks proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full accounting services: GL maintenance, journal entries, monthly close, budgets, and financial statements with workpapers.
  • Review accounts payable function and GL accountants.
  • Coordinate payroll with clients and Family Office payroll team.
  • Manage and reconcile bank, brokerage, and credit card accounts; oversee staff.
  • Oversee year-end reporting and 1099 preparation.
  • Assist in quarterly/annual tax packages and supporting documents.
  • Respond to client requests and inquiries; manage relationships with clients and vendors.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for providing multiple clients with a variety of accounting and administrative services, including but not limited to:

  • Responsibility for the full accounting processes, i.e. maintaining the general ledger, generating and posting all journal entries in a timely manner, coordinating monthly close, maintaining budgets and reporting on budget to actual, and preparing monthly/quarterly financial statements with related workpapers

  • Reviewing the accounts payable function and GL accountants

  • Payroll coordination with clients and the Family Office payroll team

  • Managing and reconciling numerous bank, brokerage and credit card accounts, overseeing staff and reviewing work

  • Performing reconciliations and analysis for balance sheet accounts, including inter-company accounts

  • Oversee the year-end reporting and preparation of 1099s

  • Assisting in preparation of quarterly and annual tax packages and supporting documents

  • Responding to client requests and inquiries

  • Involvement managing some client relationships and outside vendors as needed

  • Handling special projects as needed.

  • Utilize your entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships internally and externally with clients

Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • CPA eligible preferred

  • 3 years of progressive accounting experience

  • 2 plus years of professional services experience preferred

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and QuickBooks

  • Strong project management and client service skills

  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of GAAP and financial statements

  • High attention to detail, problem solver & intellectually curious

  • Adhere to the highest level of confidentiality

The pay range for this position is $49,500 to $118,990. This range represents a good-faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation the firm expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will depend on a variety of relevant factors, including an applicant’s skills, experience, qualifications, professional certifications, work arrangements, geographic location, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range, and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case.
