Job Overview

A law firm seeks a senior-level associate attorney in Pleasanton, CA, with a focus on real estate, construction, and civil litigation. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience, with 10+ years preferred, to manage a diverse caseload and actively participate in courtroom proceedings.

Duties
  • Manage an active caseload including lease reviews, landlord-tenant litigation, and real estate disputes.
  • Appear regularly in court for hearings, depositions, and trials.
  • Draft and review legal documents with precision and clarity.
  • Conduct legal research to support case strategy and client advisories.
  • Prepare for trial, including organizing evidence and coordinating witness testimony.
  • Communicate directly with clients to provide updates and clarify legal options.
  • Work closely with paralegals and support staff throughout case development.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings.
  • Stay current on statutory and case law developments.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in real estate, construction, or civil litigation; 10+ years preferred.
  • Substantive experience in real estate transactions and disputes, construction law, and general civil litigation.
  • Comfortable and confident in the courtroom with genuine trial and hearing experience.
  • Proven legal research experience using LexisNexis and Westlaw.
  • Strong drafting skills for contracts, motions, and pleadings.
  • Effective negotiation skills and courtroom advocacy experience.
  • Clear, client-facing communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of California procedural law and court rules.
Education

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications
