JOB SUMMARY
Under general direction to perform professional electrical engineering work related to all phases of the District's electric operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential:
Perform complex professional engineering work in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of District electrical and communication facilities, including system modeling and planning, complex calculations, engineering studies, development of construction standards, development of operating procedures, material and equipment specifications, cost and scheduling estimates, and written reports and presentations.
Ensure compliance with District safety rules, policies and rules and regulations of outside agencies that apply to District operations.
Supervise, train, and develop staff as assigned. Provide on-going feedback regarding work performance and conduct annual performance evaluations. Supervise and oversee technicians laying-out facility designs and preparing design drawings.
Manage engineering and related construction projects through their design and construction phases including project planning, scheduling, coordination, budgeting, and field inspection.
Assist in long-range capital improvement planning and budgeting, including performing inspections and preparing related studies.
Represent the District in the community and at professional meetings as required. This may include presenting information on behalf of District and reporting back to management.
Comply with and enforce all District rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Non-Essential:
Perform other duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Usually exhibited by a person with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a focus on electrical engineering courses.
Experience
Senior Electrical Engineer
Usually exhibited by a person withfive years of increasingly responsible professional engineering experience.
Associate Electrical Engineer
Usually exhibited by a person withthree years of increasingly responsible professional engineering experience.
Assistant Engineer
None required.

Interpersonal and Communication
Senior Electrical Engineer, Associate Electrical Engineer, Assistant Engineer -Must have ability to: establish and maintain cooperative relationships with both internal and external contacts; and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Technical and AnalyticalAssistant Engineer- Must have knowledge of:electrical engineering principles and practices; and techniques for preparing designs, plans, specifications, estimates, reports, and recommendations related to electrical and communication facilities.
In addition to the Assistant Engineer requirements:
Senior Electrical Engineer, Associate Electrical Engineer -Must have ability to: perform technical engineering work of a complex nature.
Administration and Operations
Assistant Engineer -Must have ability to: effectively prioritize a fluctuating workload, work well under pressure and meet continuous deadlines.
In addition to the Assistant Engineer requirements:
Associate Electrical Engineer -Must have strong project management skills.
In addition to the Associate Electrical Engineer requirements:
Senior Electrical Engineer -Must have knowledge of: principals and practices of organization, administration, budgeting, and personnel management. Must have ability to: supervise, train and evaluate staff; work independently, with a minimum of supervision, and coordinate activities with other District personnel and with outside agencies.
