Opus Advisors in Boston is expanding its investment team and seeking a Senior Associate to work directly with senior leadership across sourcing, evaluation, and execution. • Minimum two years of investment banking experience and one to three years of private equity involvement.
• Strong financial modeling, valuation, and accounting skills with the ability to translate analysis into clear recommendations.
• Excellent writing and presentation skills, including memos, diligence summaries, and management presentations.
• Ability to build productive relationships with management teams, advisors, and investment partners.
• Experience using AI tools to improve research, analysis, and workflow efficiency.
• A strong undergraduate academic record.

Our client is an entrepreneurial private equity firm focused on buyout investments across the physical commerce ecosystem, including commercial/business services, consumer multi-site, physical media & retail marketing, and related fields. The firm is backed by a family office whose large national operating business provides access to distinctive strategic, sourcing, and operating resources to support portfolio growth.

The firm is expanding its investment team and seeking a Senior Associate to work directly with senior leadership across sourcing, investment evaluation, transaction execution, and portfolio company value creation. This is the first non-partner investment team hire and is an opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility, build relationships with management teams and LPs, and help shape a rapidly growing firm.

The Role

The Senior Associate will participate in all stages of the investment process and work closely with portfolio companies. Key responsibilities include:

• Investment Evaluation and Execution: Evaluate investment opportunities, build financial models, conduct valuation analyses, and prepare investment committee materials. Manage key due diligence workstreams and work with senior leadership and external advisors on transaction structuring, financing, and execution.
• Portfolio Company Support: Work with management teams to monitor financial and operating performance, evaluate strategic initiatives and add-on acquisitions, and support the execution of value creation plans.
• Market Research and Investment Development: Research target sectors, assess competitive dynamics, and develop investment theses.
• Deal Sourcing: Collaborate with Captivate’s sourcing team to identify and pursue platform and add-on acquisition opportunities through targeted research, direct outreach to business owners, and building relationships with advisors, bankers, brokers, and other industry participants.

Qualifications

• Experience: At least two years of investment banking experience and one to three years of private equity experience, with meaningful involvement in transaction execution.
• Technical and Analytical Skills: Strong financial modeling, valuation, and accounting skills, with the ability to identify key investment considerations and translate analysis into clear recommendations.
• Communication: Excellent writing and presentation skills, including experience preparing investment committee memoranda, diligence summaries, and management presentations.
• Relationship Skills: Ability to build productive relationships with management teams, advisors, and investment partners.
• Use of AI: Experience using AI tools to improve research, analysis, and workflow efficiency while independently verifying outputs and exercising sound judgment.
• Academic Background: A strong undergraduate academic record.
• Personal Attributes: High integrity, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a strong sense of ownership. A proactive, organized approach and comfort managing multiple priorities on a lean, entrepreneurial team.
