Job summary

CAFCO Group seeks an experienced Assistant Project Officer Level III to support New York City School Construction Authority capital construction programs. In this role, you will coordinate and expedite the development of complex projects and assist Project Officers, with a path toward a full Project Officer position.

The responsibilities span office and field work across NYC, requiring strong leadership, clear communication, and rigorous attention to quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, Environmental Services, or related field.
• Three (3) years of full-time construction work experience.
• Valid New York State driver's license.
• Experience managing multiple complex construction tasks simultaneously.
• Proficiency with construction management software: Procore, PlanGrid, or eBuilder.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with complex projects and transition toward a Project Officer role.
• Coordinate and expedite development or improvement of complex capital projects.
• Ensure quality and high standards of contract performance and compliance.
• Support timely decisions to expedite construction progress.
• Help correct mistakes before they are incorporated into projects.
• Mentor junior staff and review job status reports.
• Visit job sites across NYC boroughs as required.
