Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior financial leader to manage month-end and quarter-end close processes for multiple health plans and insurance companies. The role works with the Controller and CAO to ensure timely financial statements, GAAP/NAIC SSAP compliance, and audit support.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years of leadership in health plan/insurance finance, CPA preferred, and experience managing large teams with strong communication and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• CPA preferred
• BS in Finance or Accounting required
• MBA or MSA preferred
• 15+ years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience in health plans/insurance
• At least 5 years of public accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and NAIC SSAP
• Experience implementing new accounting pronouncements and guidance
• Proven track record of value addition to financial processes
• Experience managing large teams
• Ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
• Collaborative and independent work style
• Willingness to travel for partnership and customer meetings

Responsibilities

• Manage month-end and quarter-end close processes for multiple health plans and insurance companies
• Publish monthly financial statements, including consolidated/segment results, and analyze variances
• Establish and maintain technical accounting policies per U.S. GAAP and NAIC SSAP
• Prepare special reports by collecting and summarizing data and trends
• Facilitate internal and external year-end audit processes
• Oversee NAIC statutory statements filing for all entities
• Coordinate draft audited statements with footnotes for year-end reporting
• Oversee monthly/quarterly/annual tax filings
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned, supporting the business
