Job summary

Security Finance in Spartanburg, SC is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the financial accounting and branch accounting functions, ensuring GAAP compliance, accurate month-end closes, and timely internal and external reporting.

The ideal candidate has 5 years in public accounting or 3 years as an assistant controller or controller, CPA or a Bachelor’s in Accounting, and strong Excel/Word skills with a proven ability to manage people and projects.

Qualifications

• 5 years of public accounting experience OR 3 years as an assistant controller or controller.
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP and financial management.
• Experience with computerized accounting systems.
• Proven ability to manage others.
• Proven ability to organize and manage projects.
• Proficient in Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial accounting and branch accounting departments.
• Review and approve AP invoices for Home Office and Corporate offices.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of closings and audits (GAAP).
• Manage the month-end closing process.
• Review journal entries for Home Office and Security Group, Inc.
• Research accounting guidance and draw conclusions.
