Qualifications

• The First Assistant Conflict Defender must be a NY attorney with at least 10 years in criminal and/or Family Court.
• Experience as a criminal defense attorney and/or parent’s attorney is preferred.
• Commitment to serving low income communities and advancing equity in the court system.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising and administering the Conflict Defender’s Office.
• Represent clients in Rochester City Court and those on parole.
• Serve as Counsel at First Appearance and collaborate with the Defender's staff.
• Report to the Conflict Defender and perform related duties as assigned.
