Job summary

Advantest America Inc. in Chandler, AZ is seeking an experienced Senior Assembly Soldering Technician to support the Assembly Department. You will perform soldering and assembly of electronic units, train partners, and help develop processes while ensuring quality and timely delivery.

The role requires IPC Class III solder certification and at least 5 years’ experience with soldering and electronic assembly. A robust benefits package and a dynamic, inclusive team culture are offered.

Qualifications

  • Certification of IPC Class III Solder Exam.
  • Experience with electronic assembly.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with hand tools for electrical, electronic and mechanical assembly.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with soldering, thru hole and surface mount.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and repair electronic units using prescribed repair techniques.
  • Install components, wiring, and sub-assemblies using hand tools.
  • Perform quality solder touch up on leaded and lead-free assemblies.
  • Identify correct parts, components, wires, and materials for assembly and repair.
  • Solder electronic components using industry-standard techniques.
  • Remove suspect components and install replacements accurately.
  • Operate assembly machines and ensure proper function.
  • Perform routine quality control checks and address defects.
  • Read and interpret technical data, manuals, and engineering prints.
  • Document work status clearly and maintain records.
  • Utilize office software for documentation.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and energetic Senior Assembly Soldering Technician to support our Assembly Department. Ideal candidates will have excellent communication and organizational skills, be self-motivated, able to multi-task and work efficiently. The Senior Assembly Soldering Technician is responsible for efficient and accurate assembly, preparation of parts and testing of a wide variety of products using the Bill of Material, drawings and other documentation included in the traveler package. Additionally, the Senior Assembly Soldering Technician will help train partners and help develop processes.

Responsibilities Include
  • Assemble and repair a variety of electronic units using prescribed repair techniques.
  • Assemble electrical or electronic systems and support structures; install components, units, sub-assemblies, wiring, and assembly casings, using electric/pneumatic drivers or any applicable hand tools.
  • Ability to perform quality solder touch up on leaded and lead free assemblies. Includes ability to populate PTF assemblies as required.
  • Identify correct parts, components, wires, and materials needed for assembly and repair.
  • Solder electronic components using industry-standard techniques and tools.
  • Remove suspect and failed components and install new components accurately.
  • Operate assembly machines and ensure proper functioning.
  • Perform routine Quality Control checks; identify and remove/replace/repair any defects or non-conformities. Inspect boards for proper assembly including missing parts, solder quality and clipped leads.
  • Read and interpret technical data including component maintenance manuals, assembly instructions, and engineering prints.
  • Communicate work status to team members and support staff, ensuring seamless workflow.
  • Document clear and concisely and maintain accurate records.
  • Utilize computer skills and office software applications.
Requirements
  • Certification of IPC Class III Solder Exam.
  • Experience with electronic assembly.
Education & Experience

Additional Skills Preferred (but not required):

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with and the ability to use appropriate hand tools required for electrical, electronic and mechanical assembly
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with soldering, thru hole and surface mount
Minimum Of 5 Years’ Experience With Product Testing

Previous working knowledge of ISO Processes and Documentation
