The Senior Art Director is a highly strategic and operationally sophisticated creative leader who helps lead the vision, performance, and evolution of the creative function for Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and the Momentary. This role ensures that marketing campaigns are visually compelling, on-brand, strategically aligned, operationally efficient, and scalable across a complex, multi-channel environment.
The Senior Art Director supports the Head of Creative Services and the organization’s overall creative marketing strategy, partnering closely as the strategy evolves alongside institutional priorities. As a senior leader within Marketing and Communications, the Senior Art Director helps shape creative strategy, production, team structure, and partnerships to support ambitious institutional goals, serving as a key partner to cross-functional leadership in elevating brand expression, driving attendance and engagement, and strengthening organizational effectiveness.
Success in this role requires the ability to operate at both strategic and executional levels, provide strong creative and team leadership, build effective cross-functional partnerships, and establish scalable creative standards and systems. The Senior Art Director helps ensure creative work elevates brand perception and audience engagement, campaigns contribute to attendance, membership, and institutional goals, and creative operations and teams operate with efficiency, clarity, alignment, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Physical Demands : In the work environment described, the position requires utilizing a computer and a telephone for prolonged periods of time and good eye/hand coordination, bending and stretching, and physical stamina to lift and transport a minimum of 10 pounds. Work Environment : Work is performed on‑site (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) in a professional, climate‑controlled office environment within a museum setting with standard office equipment, including computers, printers, and telephones. This role requires working in an open setting near colleagues. The noise level is typically low to moderate. The role also requires regular interaction with both the public and internal team members in a professional and courteous manner. Some local travel will be required, and a flexible schedule may be necessary to accommodate business needs, including occasional evening and weekend work hours.
