Job summary

ZGF Architects is seeking a Specifications Writer for our Washington, D.C. office. You will edit and maintain project specifications, review technical sections, and develop written requirements for complex architectural projects.

The role emphasizes collaboration with product reps and research to support design solutions. You will contribute to master specifications and respond to RFIs, working with interiors and exteriors as part of multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

Professional architecture degree preferred.
Architectural license preferred.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in architecture or related field.
Articulate with excellent written and verbal communication; strong spelling and grammar.
Experience in construction administration for large-scale, technically complex projects.

Responsibilities

Edit and maintain project specifications per established procedures.
Review, edit, and create technical specification sections.
Develop written requirements for products, procedures, and standards for complex projects.
Create relationships with product representatives and assist with product research.
Assist with editing and revisions of master specifications and respond to RFIs or submittals as needed.
Collaborate with internal and external design teams toward design solutions.
Prioritize tasks across multiple projects while meeting quality, schedule, and budget goals.
