Job summary

Revive is seeking a Senior Architectural Designer for its Preconstruction & Permitting team in California. This role focuses on shaping residential projects from concept through permitting, not just drafting.

You will collaborate with executive leadership, engineers, and contractors to deliver construction-ready plans. With 5+ years of CA residential design experience, you will navigate CBC compliance, zoning rules, and Title 24 requirements while leading permit applications and coordinating

Qualifications

• 5+ years of California residential architectural design experience.
• Strong AutoCAD proficiency; Revit knowledge a plus.
• Deep knowledge of the California Building Code (CBC), zoning, and permitting.
• Experience with remodels, additions, ADUs, and residential permitting.
• Comfortable coordinating with cities, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
• Licensed Architect is welcome but not required; strong technical ability matters most.

Responsibilities

• Produce complete construction documents using AutoCAD (Revit a plus).
• Support project scoping and feasibility assessments—flag zoning issues, setback conflicts, or structural concerns early.
• Design remodels, additions, ADUs, and custom residential projects.
• Review plans and identify constructability gaps, code conflicts, and design issues early.
• Lead permit applications from feasibility through approval.
• Coordinate directly with California planning and building departments.
• Resolve plan check corrections and keep projects moving.
• Coordinate with structural engineers, MEP consultants, contractors, and Owner Representatives.
• Help establish drawing standards, QA processes, and permitting best practices.

At Revive, we believe the foundation of a successful construction project begins long before the first hammer swings. We're looking for an experienced Senior Architectural Designer to help shape how residential projects are designed, permitted, and delivered across California. This isn't just a drafting role - you'll be a key member of our growing Pre-construction team, working alongside executive leadership, Owner Representatives, engineers, and contractors to turn ideas into construction-ready projects.

What you will do

• Produce complete construction documents using AutoCAD (Revit is a plus).

• Design remodels, additions, ADUs, and custom residential projects.

• Become a trusted technical resource for our growing Preconstruction team.

Who you are

• 5+ years of California residential architectural design experience.
• Strong AutoCAD proficiency required (Revit is a plus).
• Strong understanding of California Building Code, zoning, and permitting - CBC, CRC, Title 24, accessibility requirements, fire codes where applicable
• Experience with remodels, additions, ADUs, and residential permitting.
• Comfortable working directly with cities, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
• Licensed Architect is welcome but not required. Strong technical experience is what matters most.

Candidates with experience as Senior Job Captains, Architectural Project Managers, Residential Designers, or unlicensed Architectural Designers are encouraged to apply.
