Responsibilities

• Works across the business, operations and technology to create the solution intent and architectural vision for complex solutions and prioritize functional and non-functional requirements into a technology backlog to enable the technology roadmap and functionality to support evolving capabilities and services
• Contributes to the architecture roadmap of defined domains (Business, Application, Data, and Technology) in support of the product roadmap and best practices including standardized templates
• Clarifies the architecture, assists with system design to support implementation, and provides solution options to resolve architectural impediments
• Facilitates solution driven discussions, leads the design of complex architectures, and finds creative solutions through knowledge of domain, practical experiments, and proof of concepts while ensuring architecture is flexible, modular, and adaptable
• Educates team members on the technology practices, standardization strategies, and best practices to create innovative solutions
• Supports the team as needed to select the technology stack required for solutions and helps select preferred technology products
• Performs design and code reviews to ensure all non-functional requirements are sufficiently met (security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, reliability)
• The Chief Engineer provides end-to-end technical leadership for complex initiatives, mitigating risks and accelerating delivery outcomes; may participate in operational reviews, incident analysis, and strategic planning for platform reliability and operational excellence

This job is responsible for defining an architectural vision and solution that supports the strategic outcomes of the Business' Products and Services. • We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Chief Engineer (CE) / Architect to support the Core Technology Infrastructure (CTI) Application and Database Services organization in the strategy, architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise infrastructure services. This role is responsible for partnering with engineering, operations, architecture, and application teams to develop resilient, scalable, and secure infrastructure capabilities that enable business and technology objectives across the enterprise.
• The Chief Engineer serves as a senior technology leader, engaging early in strategic initiatives to provide architectural guidance, technical oversight, and solution direction throughout the lifecycle of infrastructure projects. The role is accountable for ensuring technology solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, operational requirements, and the Bank's long-term technology strategy. Working closely with stakeholders across CTI, APSE, and CIO organizations, the CE develops a deep understanding of business priorities and translates them into scalable, supportable, and cost-effective technology solutions.
• As a trusted advisor to executive leadership, the Chief Engineer evaluates emerging technologies, recommends strategic investments, and provides cost-benefit analysis to support technology modernization and innovation efforts. The role influences technology decisions across organizational boundaries and partners closely with Architecture, Engineering, and Operations teams to establish standards, drive consistency, and improve platform capabilities.
