Job summary

Apple Inc. in San Diego seeks a senior engineer to guide the process development and integration of advanced AR/VR optical modules, from concept to volume manufacturing.

You will manage cross-disciplinary teams and partner with external manufacturers to ensure high yield and scalable production. The role emphasizes Design for Manufacturability, rigorous root-cause analysis, and a track record of delivering complex optical hardware projects on aggressive timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Advanced degree in a relevant engineering field.
• Experience leading DFMs from architecture to validation builds.
• Experience in process development for optics/display modules or high-precision optical hardware.
• Experience conducting root-cause failure analysis and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, process development, and integration of AR/VR optical modules and precision assembly sequences.
• Translate design requirements into module EQ and process development schedules.
• Drive DFM roadmaps with Optical Design and Integration teams to maximize yield and production scalability.
• Perform design and process FMEA focusing on high-risk items to plan development work.
• Lead deep-dive root-cause analyses on high-volume data to resolve systemic issues.
• Serve as technical lead, establishing repeatable engineering frameworks to stabilize processes.
• Champion detailed optimizations across materials, tolerances, and assembly steps.
• Lead engagements with external manufacturing partners and vendors to align requirements and timelines.
• Anticipate optics manufacturing trends to shape forward-looking process roadmaps.
