Job Overview

Amazon Braket is investing in fault‑tolerant quantum computing capabilities. We are looking for a Senior Applied Scientist with deep expertise in quantum error correction to work on compilation science as part of a team of scientists and engineers building fault‑tolerant quantum capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive scientific design decisions for fault‑tolerant quantum workloads, including error correction code selection, logical gate synthesis, and qubit mapping strategies.
• Develop and implement resource estimation algorithms that guide compilation optimization.
• Collaborate with software engineers to translate QEC research into production software.
• Benchmark approaches against realistic hardware noise models and device constraints.
• Work with quantum hardware providers on compilation strategies tailored to specific architectures.
• Publish research in coordination with the Braket science team and represent Amazon Braket at conferences and workshops.

Basic Qualifications

• Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, or Perl.
• PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field with a focus on quantum information science.
• 3+ years of research experience in quantum error correction (academic or industry).
• Track record of publications in QEC, fault‑tolerant quantum computation, or closely related areas.
• Experience implementing quantum algorithms or error correction protocols in simulation or on real hardware.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience implementing QEC protocols on physical quantum devices (any modality).
• Specific experience in syndrome extraction, decoder design and integration, logical gate synthesis, or code distance optimization.
• Experience with multiple qubit modalities (superconducting, trapped ion, or neutral atom architectures).
• Experience with error‑correcting codes such as surface codes, color codes, or other topological codes.
• Familiarity with quantum compilation tools (Stim, PyMatching, TKET, or similar).
• Experience working at the science‑engineering boundary in a product‑oriented environment.

Benefits

Base salary range: 167,100.00 – 226,100.00 USD annually. The total compensation package includes sign‑on payments, restricted stock units, health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, parental leave, and other benefits.
