Job summary

Kami is seeking an Application Security Engineer to actively fix vulnerabilities by diving into code, upgrading libraries, and modernizing security across our platform. You’ll guide engineers, create security playbooks, and embed guardrails into our SDLC to protect our education platform used by millions of students and teachers.

You will work closely with engineering teams to remediate defects, document best practices, and enable rapid, secure development with automated testing tools and modern

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years in Application Security or Security Engineering.
• Able to read code, identify architectural flaws, and write fixes or scripts.
• Experience updating third‑party libraries without breaking production features.
• Excellent written skills with security playbooks and docs.
• Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, containers, CI/CD, and automated security testing systems.

Responsibilities

• Vulnerability and legacy code remediation across code bases.
• Support engineering pods and assist in defect remediation.
• Draft security playbooks and remediation documentation for internal use.
• Embed security tooling and guardrails into the SDLC (shift-left).
• Hardening cloud infrastructure with firewalls and encryption measures.
• Manage incident response workflows with automated detection and containment.
