Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Senior Application Security Engineer to join our Information Security team in the United States. You will implement and manage AST/ASPM tooling, integrate security into CI/CD pipelines, and support development teams across Java, Node.js, and cloud environments.

You will lead remediation guidance, triage findings at scale, and communicate risk to non‑technical stakeholders while advancing DevSecOps practices across multiple business units.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; advanced degrees valued.
• Proven experience in application security and software development.
• Experience implementing and supporting SAST/DAST/IAST/SCA tooling.
• Strong knowledge of secure coding and SDLC security integrations.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain AST tools (SAST, DAST, IAST, SCA, etc.) and identify vulnerabilities.
• Administer ASPM tooling to centralize findings and integrate with SDLC.
• Serve as first-line support for users on false positives and remediation guidance.

• Develop detailed reports on findings and remediation efforts for stakeholders.

Job Description

Become a key player in our Information Security team as a Senior Application Security Engineer, where you willleverageyourexpertiseinapplication security, security engineering, and software developmentto support and enhance ourinline code testing and reporting processes. This role involves the implementation and administration of application security tooling, integration into CI/CD pipelines, and providing support for development teams using these products and consuming their findings.

Responsibilities

• Implementing andmaintainingApplication Security Testing (AST) tools (SAST, DAST, IAST, SCA, etc.) toidentifycode and dependency vulnerabilities during the software development lifecycle.
• Implementing andmaintainingApplication Security Posture Management (ASPM) tools to centralize and deduplicate findings from multiple solutions and integrate into software development processes.
• Acting as thefirst line of support for users by helping resolve false positives, providing guidance on finding remediation, and evaluating security exception requests.
• Integrating security tooling with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CICD) pipelines.
• Developing detailed reports on security findings and remediation efforts.
• Demonstrate highproficiencyacross a wide range of technologies and platforms related to application security, software design and development, containerization, and cloud environments.
• Communicate security risks and evangelize secure development practicestodevelopment teams andtheirmanagement.
• Lean/understand vulnerabilities, triage security risks at scale in disparate application development environments and business units.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree with 7 years experience; Master's Degree with 6 years experience; PhD with 2 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred
• Respectiveyears of demonstratedexperience in application security and software development
• Respective years of demonstrated experience implementing, administering, and supporting application security tooling such as SAST/DAST/IAST/SCA
• Extensiveknowledge of secure coding practices across multiple programming languages(esp. Java, Node.js)
• Extensiveexperience integrating security testing into CICD pipelines
• Strong knowledge of application security principlesalong with common vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10, CWE, etc.) and associated mitigations
• Experience implementing andscalingDevSecOpspracticesand tooling within large organizations
• Experience implementingDevSecOpsworkflows in cloud environments such as AWS and Azure
• Experience developingInfrastructureAsCode (IAC) via solutions such as Terraform and/or CloudFormation
• Experiencesupporting developerswith assessing and mitigating application security test findings
• Ability to effectively communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to function as a principal engineer,generating original technical ideas and strategies. Demonstratedcreative 'out of the box' thinkingto solve difficult technical problems and championnew technologiesto achieve program goals.
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills, asdemonstratedby presenting at leading scientific or technical conferences.
• Experience coaching and supporting the development of junior engineers

Preferred

• Experience implementing tooling toconsolidateapplication security test findings from multiple sources tofacilitatedeveloper engagement and integrate with development workflows and tracking systems
• Experience administering Snyk and Endor Labs
• Experience integrating Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) tooling with application security pipelines
• Experience automating workflows via programming and scripting languages such as Python
• Experience building logging intoDevSecOpspipelines to gain insights into pipeline performance
• Experience collaborating with vulnerability and risk management partners to interface with risk management and acceptance processes
• 5+ years of experience in application security and software development
• 3+ years of experience implementing, administering, and supporting application security tooling such as SAST/DAST/IAST/SCA
