Job summary

SCIEX in Marlborough, MA is seeking a Senior Application Scientist for Proteomics to deliver customer-centric LC-MS applications support, method development, and training across life sciences markets.

You will work with sales and product teams on pre-sales visits, build end-to-end workflows, and represent SCIEX at conferences, with up to 50% travel within North America.

Qualifications

  • BS with 10+ years, MS with 5+ years, or PhD with 3+ years of experience in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Life Sciences focusing on mass spectrometric analysis
  • Experience in proteomics workflows (required) with broader exposure to metabolomics, lipidomics, and pharma applications
  • Strong hands-on experience with LC/MS quantitative and qualitative workflows using accurate mass instrumentation
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in customer-facing environments and influence technical and business stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Lead customer engagement and technical delivery by preparing and delivering LC/MS product demonstrations, proteomics workflows, training, and ongoing application support
  • Drive commercial impact by partnering with sales to identify opportunities and influence customer decisions
  • Develop and advance proteomics solutions with end-to-end workflows including sample prep, methods, and data processing
  • Support product innovation and portfolio expansion across hardware and software solutions in LC-MS
  • Act as a scientific thought leader and brand ambassador within the proteomics community

Senior Application Scientist Proteomics

This role is responsible for delivering customer-centric applications support in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role focuses on LC-MS product demonstrations, field application support, method development, and training within life sciences research and pharmaceutical markets, supporting SCIEXs accurate mass product portfolio

This role will work closely with internal partners (sales, service, and product teams) to support pre-sales visits and presentations with customers.

This position reports to the Sr Manager, Biopharma and CE Applications and is part of the North America Commercial Applications team located in either Marlborough, MA or Redwood Shore, CA and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Lead customer engagement and technical delivery by preparing and delivering LC/MS product demonstrations, proteomics workflows, training, and ongoing application support to drive customer success and adoption
  • Drive commercial impact and market growth by partnering with sales and business teams to identify opportunities, align application strategies, and influence customer decisions across key market segments
  • Develop and advance proteomics solutions by designing and implementing end-to-end workflows, including sample preparation, analytical methods, and data processing approaches
  • Support product innovation and portfolio expansion by contributing to the definition, testing, and application of new hardware and software solutions across nominal and accurate mass LC-MS technologies
  • Act as a scientific thought leader and brand ambassador by building a strong presence in the proteomics community, representing SCIEX at conferences, and influencing stakeholders across scientific, commercial, and executive audience
The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Exceptional presentation, communication, and customer-facing skills
  • BS with 10+ years, MS with 5+ years, or PhD with 3+ years of experience in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Life Sciences with focus on mass spectrometric analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in proteomics workflows (required), with broader exposure to metabolomics, lipidomics, and/or pharma applications including sample preparation, method development, and data analysis
  • Strong hands-on experience with LC/MS quantitative and qualitative workflows using accurate mass instrumentation
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in customer-facing environments and influence technical and business stakeholders
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
  • Up to 50% travel within North America.
  • Must have a valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • Using SCIEX instrumentation and software, particularly accurate mass systems
  • MS/MS workflows for unknown identification
  • Serving as a recognized scientific contributor (e.g., publications, presentations, or collaborations) within proteomics

The annual salary range for this role is $125k-135K.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
