Job summary

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Board is seeking a Sr IT Application Systems professional to assist in management and maintenance of application‑level software. You will implement and document system applications and work with end users to meet business requirements.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years in business systems analysis, with a focus on uptime, system integrity, and cross‑functional problem solving. TSA/SIDA related requirements may apply for access.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science or a related field.
  • Three (3) plus years of business systems analysis.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in management and maintenance of systems in the area of focus including administration, configuration, upgrades, maintenance, code migration, performance monitoring, system support, and end‑user support.
  • Assist in management and configuration of systems such as bug analysis, patch and application testing, and requirements analysis.
  • Ensure integrity, reliability, and availability of Terminal systems to maximize uptime.
  • Monitor system performance and health, respond when metrics are not met.
  • Review current and proposed software systems for compatibility with future needs.
  • Collaborate with managers and engineers to define problems and configure solutions.
  • Communicate with users and management throughout the life cycle of an application.
  • Perform specialized configuration tasks in databases, data communications and minicomputers.
  • Provide emergency on‑call response for one or more applications.
  • Identify configuration issues and corrective actions.
  • Participate in cross‑functional teams to implement improved processes.
  • Perform other related duties.

Job Overview

Under general direction of the Sr IT Application Systems Manager in the area of focus, assists in the management and maintenance of application-level software. Implements and maintains automated and manual systems including specifying, testing, debugging, maintaining, and documenting system applications. Uses broad working knowledge of data processing to facilitate the definition of solutions to meet business requirements. Assists end-users working with assigned systems.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists in the management and maintenance of systems in area of focus including administration, configuration, upgrades, maintenance, code migration, performance monitoring, system support, and end‑user support.
  • Assists in the management and the configuration of systems such as bug analysis, patch and application testing, and support requirements analysis and customization design.
  • Ensures the integrity, reliability, and availability of Terminal systems with a goal of maximizing system up‑time.
  • Proactively monitors and measures the performance and health of systems and responds accordingly when systems fail to meet desired metrics.
  • Reviews current and proposed software systems to ensure compatibility with other software systems and future business needs.
  • Works with Managers and Sr. Engineers to define business problems and configure software systems solutions.
  • Communicates with users and management staff throughout the life cycle of a given application to ensure maximum productivity.
  • Performs specialized configuration tasks requiring a high degree of technical proficiency in such areas as databases, data communications and minicomputers.
  • Provides emergency on‑call response for one or more applications.
  • Identifies configuration issues and corrective action to mitigate system impacts.
  • Participates in cross‑functional teams to implement improved business solutions/business processes based on strategic plans.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science or a related field.
  • Three (3) plus years of business systems analysis.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of systems analysis and design, including software development and documentation.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of business and public administration.
  • Knowledge of current computer technology.
  • Ability to plan and develop time and cost estimates for project activities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships inside and outside the organization.
Desirable
  • Experience with relational database management systems.
  • Experience supporting one of the following areas of focus: Human Resource Environment, Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Environment, Financials Environment, Public Safety Environment, General Portfolio Environment, Parking System Environment, Airside Services Environment.
Special Requirement

Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et. al. and DFW Airport’s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal. For Public Safety Systems: Current Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) certification or the ability to obtain certification within thirty (30) days. Department may specify programming languages and specific experience required to meet its technological requirements.
