Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Application Developer with an active Secret clearance to design, build, and modify application software in Fairfax, VA in a hybrid role.

You will work with Java, ColdFusion, JavaScript, and C#, develop RESTful services, and support secure coding aligned with federal standards. Collaborate with architects, cybersecurity teams, and government stakeholders to deliver mission-critical software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 12+ years of experience with large integrated projects and 5+ years in Java development, preferably in federal/defense contracting.
• Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain DEA suitability.
• Strong knowledge of Java SE/EE, Spring Boot, RESTful services.
• Experience with secure environments and compliance (FISMA/NIST/RMF).
• Proficiency with Maven/Gradle, Git, Jenkins/GitLab CI.
• Exposure to containerization and cloud platforms.
• Understanding of secure coding practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and modify application software.
• Implement multiple design patterns and integrate APIs/data repositories.
• Manage legacy code and develop containerized Java apps.
• Develop unit tests and ensure code meets requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, cybersecurity teams, and stakeholders.
• Ensure secure, data-exchange across classification levels.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and CI/CD deployments.
• Refactor legacy systems toward cloud-native solutions.
