Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Apparel QA Engineer Specialist in Grand Rapids, MI to establish and advance QA processes for Meijer Own Brand Softlines. You will build QA infrastructure, ensure product integrity, and partner with Product Development, Technical Design, Sourcing, Merchandising, Compliance, and global vendor teams to meet Meijer's quality standards.

The position follows a hybrid schedule: in-office Monday-Wednesday with remote Thursday-Friday.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Apparel/Textile Technology or QA
• 7 years direct apparel QA experience in retail/private-label
• At least 3 years leading quality functions or initiatives
• Strong knowledge of apparel QA management systems and preventive QA practices
• Working knowledge of AQL standards in apparel
• Understanding of garment construction for knits, wovens, denim
• Experience with overseas vendors and global manufacturers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Build and execute QA processes, infrastructure, standards and training for Meijer's Own Brand Apparel QA program
• Develop and maintain product requirements and construction standards for apparel
• Create and refine testing protocols aligned with industry best practices
• Coordinate with labs and vendors to ensure testing per Meijer protocols
• Review failures, conduct root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions
• Lead QA best practices across apparel operations
• Collaborate with overseas agents, vendors and manufacturers on quality expectations
• Support vendor qualification and contribute to vendor scorecards used internally
