Job summary

Speechify, the leading text-to-speech platform, is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to support its growing Android app user base and tackle exciting projects. You will shape the Android stack, deliver high-quality features, and collaborate with Product, Design and Engineering to enhance user experiences.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of software engineering, deep Kotlin expertise, and a passion for building elegant, reliable mobile software.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Familiarity with Android components.
• Experience building or contributing to an Android app.
• Product design intuition and user empathy.
• Drive to push the boundaries of Android UI/UX.
• Understanding of testing and how to write tests.
• Self-drive to improve the app and codebase beyond the spec.
• Proficient with Kotlin and related technologies listed above.
• Excellent communication skills.
• User oriented problem solving and feedback mindset.

Responsibilities

• Own major features and deliver high quality work with design input.
• Shape the future of the Android team.
• Own, maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
• Collaborate across Product, Design and Engineering teams.
• Review pull requests and mentor teammates.
• Address critical issues and handle unexpected challenges.
• Take ownership of feature releases and provide nightly builds for QA.
