Job summary

Waymo is seeking an experienced Android Platform Engineer to help bring up and maintain an automotive-grade Android system across hardware platforms. You will collaborate with hardware and software teams to advance platform features and ensure a robust user experience for Waymo devices.

The role is hybrid, reporting to an Engineering Manager, with a salary range of $170,000–$216,000 USD and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of software development experience.
• Experience working with low-level Android/AOSP (building Android platform features, frameworks).
• Worked with git, repo and gerrit.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate SoC vendor development kits.
• Develop update mechanism for Android OS and applications.
• Work with vendors, HW team and other stakeholders to define requirements for next UX platform.
• Bring up Android on new hardware.
• Provide technical support for other teams working on our Android devices.
