Job summary

Speechify, a leader in text-to-speech, is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to own major features and guide the Android team's growth. You’ll work with design, product, and engineering to deliver high-quality user experiences.

You will contribute to Kotlin-based architecture, tests, and rapid iterations in a fully distributed environment, shaping a product that helps millions read better.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Familiarity with Android components.
• Experience building or contributing to at least one Android app.
• Product design intuition and user empathy.
• Drive to push the boundaries of Android UI/UX.
• Understanding of tests and how to write them.
• Self-drive to improve the app and code beyond the spec.
• Strong Kotlin expertise: Kotlin, Coroutines, Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Android Animations, Jetpack Navigation, JUnit tests
• Excellent communication skills
• User-oriented problem solving
• Receptive to feedback from leaders

Responsibilities

• Own major features and collaborate with design to deliver high-quality app functionality.
• Shape the future of the Android team and roadmap.
• Own, maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
• Participate in cross-team discussions: Product, Design, Engineering.
• Review pull requests and support teammates.
• Handle critical issues and unexpected challenges.
• Lead feature releases and provide nightly builds for QA.
