Robinhood is seeking a Senior Android Engineer on iRAD to craft high-impact mobile experiences across investing journeys. You will lead complex Android work end to end, collaborating with product, design, and backend teams, and making thoughtful architectural decisions in safety and scalability areas.

Role is based in New York City, NY or Menlo Park, CA with in-person attendance at least 3 days per week. Robinhood offers comprehensive compensation and equity options.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Android development experience.
• Proficiency with Kotlin and/or Java and Android SDK; strong MVVM understanding.
• Experience with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flow or RxJava, and Retrofit/Room libraries.
• Strong collaboration and product-focused mindset.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

We collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Backend Engineering to ensure every interaction on Android reflects quality, performance, and care.

Robinhood’s iRAD team builds and scales investing experiences across areas like Retirement, Advisory, Recurring Investments, and Recommendations. The team works across both foundational and customer-facing surfaces, including onboarding flows, settings, deeplinks, and other shared product experiences.

As a Senior Android Engineer on iRAD, you would build and evolve high-impact mobile experiences across these investing journeys, helping shape how customers discover, open, manage, and grow their accounts on Robinhood. You would lead complex Android work end to end across shared product surfaces and onboarding flows, partner closely with product, design, and backend teams, and make thoughtful technical decisions in areas where safety, scalability, and cross-team compatibility matter.

This role is based in our New York City, NY or Menlo Park, CA office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

What you’ll do

• Build intuitive, elegant, and stable mobile experiences using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and modern Android APIs
• Lead the full lifecycle of product features — from ideation and technical design to implementation, testing, and release
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, Backend Engineers, and Data Scientists to create impactful solutions
• Champion engineering best practices that ensure code quality, scalability, and maintainability
• Mentor junior developers and help elevate team standards and collaboration

What you bring

• 5+ years of professional experience developing Android applications
• Proficiency with Kotlin and/or Java, and a strong grasp of Android SDK and architecture patterns like MVVM
• Experience using Jetpack Compose, Coroutines & Flow or RxJava, and libraries such as Retrofit and Room
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with a product-focused mindset
• Demonstrated ability to mentor peers, lead complex projects, and influence architecture decisions
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

In addition to the base pay range listed below, this role is also eligible for bonus opportunities + equity + benefits.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.

Base Pay Range:

Zone 1 (Menlo Park, CA; New York, NY; Bellevue, WA; Washington, DC) $196,000 — $230,000 USD

Zone 2 (Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL) $172,000 — $202,000 USD

Zone 3 (Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; Gainesville, FL) $153,000 — $179,000 USD
