Job summary

Duolingo is hiring an Android engineer for the Application Stability and Performance team. You will own the stability and performance of the Android Learning app for millions of learners, build tooling for crash/memory analysis, and drive performance experiments across hundreds of concurrent tests.

You will lead architectural initiatives, advance tracing and benchmarking, and partner with cross-functional teams to act on performance insights while mentoring engineers at all levels.

Qualifications

• Experience shipping large Android apps.
• Experience identifying root causes of ANRs, memory leaks, dropped frames, and crashes.
• Strong Kotlin skills with modern architecture patterns.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural initiatives to fix slow parts of the app, from startup to learning flows.
• Own and evolve performance tooling with tracing, benchmarking, and regression detection.
• Bridge between Client Platform and Product feature teams using performance data.
