Job description

About Rivian

Rivianis on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Analytics Engineer to join our Product Development Data and Analytics team. Our team partners with groups across Product Development, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to define, build, measure, and enhance the systems and processes that enable the successful launch of a vehicle program—including product requirements, bill of material (BOM) development, issue and change management, and prototype build and validation.

As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you will play a critical role in scaling our Product Data Catalog and building the next generation of analytics tools. You will be instrumental in democratizing our data to enable self-service analysis and refining our architecture to facilitate quality AI. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in data architecture and dbt, and the leadership to scale data driven-decision making in a rapidly evolving EV production environment.

Responsibilities
  • Data Architecture & Modeling: Architect and maintain scalable ELT pipelines and data models for optimal data accuracy and consistency. Manage the Product Data Catalog within our enterprise Databricks Unity Catalog, ensuring clean, reliable, and intuitive semantic metric definitions using dbt.
  • Advanced Analytics & Visualization: Develop and deploy mission-critical technical dashboards and data products (e.g., in Hex, Databricks AI/BI). Drive the development of core dashboards to serve everyone from executive leadership to functional working levels.
  • Data Democratization: Drive initiatives to democratize data and metrics, enabling low-code and self-service analytics for users across the business to seamlessly conduct ad-hoc, root-cause analyses.
  • AI Readiness & Innovation: Enrich the data catalog and refine model architecture to ensure reliability and AI comprehension. Contribute to a cross-organization knowledge base and drive the utilization of AI/ML models and agents for automation.
  • Strategic Problem Solving: Proven leadership in architecting analytics platforms that solve complex operational problems. Autonomously investigate, dissect, and resolve complex business challenges spanning the vehicle development lifecycle.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, a relevant technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in senior or staff positions in data engineering and analytics engineering.
  • Expertise in SQL, Python, and dbt.
  • Proficient in data modeling principles and schema design for analytics.
  • Proficient in modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Databricks), with a strong command of latest features (Unity Catalog, Databricks AI/BI, Genie).
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Hex.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD workflows for data engineering projects.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts and data-driven insights to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working with bill of materials (BOM) data.
  • Experience building and maintaining robust data ingestion pipelines leveraging Spark in Databricks jobs as well as Fivetran.
  • Understanding of AI/ML models as applied to data analytics or automation.
