Job summary

Discover International in Southwest Florida is developing its analytical chemistry function and seeks an experienced analytical chemist. You will own QC release testing, develop LC-MS/HPLC methods for peptides, conjugates and small molecules, and support chemistry, manufacturing and quality teams in a growing biotech environment.

The role requires hands-on LC-MS expertise (LC-MS/MS, Q-TOF, Orbitrap or similar), 5+ years of pharma/biotech experience, and a PhD/MS/BS in Chemistry.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of analytical chemistry experience in pharma, biotech or a CDMO.
• Ability to validate methods to ICH guidelines.
• BS/MS/PhD in Chemistry or related field.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize and validate LC-MS and HPLC methods for peptides, conjugates and small molecules.
• Perform identity, purity and impurity characterization of drug substances, intermediates and reference standards.
• Own QC release and stability testing, including specifications, certificates of analysis and data review.
• Lead out-of-spec and out-of-trend investigations, deviations and corrective actions.
• Write SOPs, test methods, protocols and reports to GMP standards.
• Maintain, troubleshoot and qualify analytical instruments.
• Work closely with synthetic chemists, radiochemists and manufacturing.

We’ve partnered with a growing, well-funded biotech developing innovative therapeutics, which is building out its facility and team in Southwest Florida. Analytical chemistry is central to their work, and this hire will play a key role as the company grows.

The role

This is a hands-on bench role for an experienced analytical chemist with strong LC-MS skills. You’ll support our chemistry and manufacturing teams and own QC release testing until we build out a formal QC group. It’s a chance to shape the analytical function from the ground up.

What you’ll do

What you’ll bring

• Strong hands-on LC-MS experience (LC-MS/MS, Q-TOF, Orbitrap or similar), developing methods as well as running them
• 5+ years of analytical chemistry experience in pharma, biotech or a CDMO
• Experience validating methods to ICH guidelines
• A BS, MS or PhD in Chemistry or a related field
• Authorization to work in the US without sponsorship
• Willingness to work on-site full-time in SW Florida

Nice to have

• GMP QC release testing experience
• Radiopharmaceutical or radiochemistry experience (radio-HPLC, radio-TLC)
• Experience setting up a lab or QC function at a growing company
