The Team

S&P Global Ratings' Structured Finance and Alternative Investment Funds team evaluates the credit risk of securitized products and fund structures, analyzing underlying asset performance, structural protections, cash-flow mechanics, and stress scenarios. The team delivers credit opinions that help issuers and investors compare complex instruments, providing market-relevant perspectives on performance trends and issuance conditions across a growing and evolving sector.

The Impact and Responsibilities:

Team Contribution & Capability Building

  • Guide and coach junior analysts and research staff, building capability in credit analysis, data discipline, and analytical tooling to reinforce consistent, high-quality outputs.

  • Strengthen team productivity by creating reusable analytical assets and contributing to lightweight automation initiatives that free capacity for human analysis and judgment.

  • Identify and propose workflow improvements that remove unnecessary manual steps without compromising governance or analytical standards.

  • Partner with senior team members and Data and Engineering colleagues to identify and scale AI and automation use cases with governance-by-design, appropriate controls, and adoption support.

Core Analytical & Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end credit analysis and surveillance for assigned structured finance credits, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery with clear accountability for outputs and priorities.

  • Synthesize portfolio performance, market signals, and peer context into decision-ready insights that support rating committee discussions and risk assessments.

  • Embed and validate generative AI and large language model tools within analytical workflows, maintaining human accountability for all conclusions and material risk judgments.

  • Prepare and review analytical inputs, reconcile metrics, and document assumptions to ensure adherence to methodologies and standard operating procedures.

Stakeholder & Market Engagement

  • Engage with external stakeholders alongside senior team members, translating complex data and analysis into clear, evidence-based narratives for clients and rating committees.

  • Prepare well-structured, committee- ready materials and communicate complex analytical content in an accessible format for market participants.

Risk Management and Operating

  • Apply methodology, confidentiality, and data governance requirements consistently, escalating issues early with clear recommendations to protect analytical integrity.

  • Contribute to the responsible design and testing of automation and AI-enabled workflows, maintaining clear boundaries between what can be automated and what requires human judgment.
