Job description

Overview

Voya Investment Management is seeking a Global Tech Analyst to join its Income & Growth team, responsible for generating high‑conviction insights across global technology sectors. The analyst will work as part of a collaborative investment team to drive the process of idea generation and security selection within the global technology landscape, partnering closely with portfolio managers across the platform.

The ideal candidate brings a sophisticated understanding of global technology ecosystems—including software, semiconductors, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital platforms, and emerging technologies—along with a proven ability to produce differentiated research that drives alpha. Experience covering U.S. or international technology companies is preferred but not required. This role demands deep industry expertise, strong analytical judgment, and the ability to influence portfolio construction decisions.

The analyst will develop and communicate investment recommendations based on comprehensive industry and company research, drawing on diverse information sources such as public filings, product roadmaps, technical documentation, industry conferences, expert networks, and direct engagement with senior management teams. The analyst will also contribute to the development of quantitative screens and frameworks aligned with the platform’s investment philosophy. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as the analyst will be expected to clearly articulate and defend investment ideas to portfolio managers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead fundamental research coverage of global technology companies across software, hardware, semiconductors, cloud, cybersecurity, digital services, and emerging tech verticals.
  • Develop detailed financial and operational models, valuation frameworks, and scenario analyses to assess company performance, technology adoption curves, competitive positioning, and macro-technology trends.
  • Produce high-quality, actionable investment recommendations supported by rigorous analysis, technical understanding, and industry insight.
  • Monitor global sector developments, including innovation cycles, regulatory changes, competitive dynamics, supply‑chain shifts, and macroeconomic factors influencing technology markets.
  • Partner closely with portfolio managers to shape investment strategy, position sizing, and risk management decisions across global mandates.
  • Present investment theses and risk assessments to the investment committee with clarity, conviction, and a strong command of both financial and technological drivers.
  • Identify mispriced securities and thematic opportunities across the capital structure (equity, credit, hybrids, preferreds, etc., depending on mandate), with a focus on long‑term technology trends and disruptive innovation.
Qualifications
  • 7–10 years of experience in equity or credit research, investment management, investment banking, consulting, or corporate strategy with a focus on technology sectors.
  • Deep understanding of technology business models, industry value chains, product economics, and sector-specific valuation methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate differentiated insights and a track record of successful investment recommendations.
  • Exceptional analytical, financial modeling, and critical‑thinking skills, including comfort with complex datasets and technology-driven KPIs.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical and financial concepts to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS Finance, MS Data/Tech) or professional designation (CFA) preferred.
  • High level of integrity, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to excellence, with a passion for understanding global technology trends and innovation.
