Job summary

National Beef in Liberal, Kansas is seeking a Refrigeration Manager to lead the operation and maintenance of a large ammonia refrigeration system, boiler and plant utilities. You will supervise a team of 18 and manage the department's repair and maintenance budget while driving capital reinvestment projects.

The role emphasizes strong safety leadership, on-site presence, and collaboration with engineering, operations and IT to implement optimal solutions and ensure the expected application

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of ammonia refrigeration experience.
• 5–10 years boilers and related equipment experience.
• Knowledge of PSM & RMP programs and compliance.
• Experience managing supervisory and hourly staff.
• Ability to teach, train and develop departmental staff.
• Experience with maintenance planning & scheduling systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical aspects of refrigeration and boiler systems.
• Ability to lead a team of plant technicians and contractors.
• Excellent communication across engineering, operations and IT teams.
• On-call 24/7 availability.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation & maintenance of ammonia refrigeration, boiler and utilities network.
• Supervise 18-member staff and manage repair/maintenance budget.
• Lead capital reinvestment in refrigeration and boiler systems at Liberal, KS facility.
• Ensure a safe work environment with safety being a priority in the department.
• Provide training, documentation and follow-up communication with end users.
