Job summary

Trinity Industries in Texas is seeking a Senior Alternative Coatings specialist to apply interior coatings on tank cars. The role involves lining cars with prime, intermediate and top coats and requires the use of airless spray equipment to ensure defect-free results.

You will mix cold set and phenolic materials, manage temperature/humidity effects, and operate small power tools. Safety practices and accurate record-keeping are essential.

Qualifications

• Understanding of pre-bake and final bake of forced cure linings
• Ability to mix lining materials and manage temperature/humidity effects
• Operate small power tools
• Preparation of tank cars for lining
• Knowledge of emergency rescue procedures
• Pass level 2 coatings certification (typically with 3 years' experience)
• Experience in industrial/manufacturing environments is beneficial
• Rail or steel manufacturing experience is a plus

• Line/coat interior surfaces of tank cars using airless spray equipment.
• Mix and apply cold set and phenolic materials.
• Apply all layers (prime, intermediate and top) with consistently defect free results.
• Employees at this level require no supervision and give direction to Interior Preppers and other
• Interior Liners by regularly performing as team leader of a three member working unit involved
• In preparing and lining cars.
• Observes all standard safety practices.
• Maintain and complete all required records.

• Ability to operate small power tools.
• Knowledge of proper preparation of tank cars for lining.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform emergency rescue operations.
• Must pass level 2 coatings certification test (normally acquired with 3 years' experience).
• Previous experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or construction environment is beneficial
• Previous experience in rail or steel manufacturing industry is a plus!
